Bombardier receives CofA from United Arab Emirates General Aviation Authority for Challenger 850 jet Based in the United Arab Emirates

Bombardier receives CofA from United Arab Emirates General Aviation Authority for Challenger 850 jet
Bombardier Aerospace today announced that Dubai-based Gama Aviation FZC, part of the international Gama Group, has become the first customer to register a Challenger 850 jet in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) issued its certificate of airworthiness (CofA) for the Challenger 850 jet on December 16, 2010.
“We are very excited by the addition of this Challenger 850 jet to our growing fleet,” said Dave Edwards, Managing Director, Gama Aviation. “The first CofA for this type of business jet in the UAE demonstrates the growing interest in business aviation in this region and a crowning achievement for our newly launched Middle Eastern division.”
Gama Group is an international business aviation services organization, providing exceptional service and value on a global platform. Gama Aviation FZC has an operating base at Sharjah International Airport with offices in the Dubai Airport Freezone. Established in the United Kingdom in 1983 by Marwan Abdel Khalek and Stephen Wright, the Gama Group is headquartered at Farnborough Airport, UK, and has bases across Europe, the Americas and the Middle East, operating over 75 business aircraft, including two Learjet 45 aircraft, two Learjet 60 aircraft, two Challenger 604 aircraft and two Challenger 605 aircraft.
Gama Group’s companies and affiliates hold EU-OPS, FAA Part 135 and UAE GCAA Charter Certificates; FAA Part 145 Maintenance Approvals; Part 21 Design and Manufacture Approvals; and offer business aircraft charter, management, FBO, maintenance, valeting and aviation software services. Gama Aviation FZC obtained its UAE GCAA Air Operator’s Certificate in February 2010 and now operates five business jets in the region, where it is also progressing work on a new hangar and complementary Fixed Based Operation (FBO) at Sharjah International Airport.
“The certification of Gama Group’s Challenger 850 aircraft is an example of the increasing diversity of the market for business aircraft in the Middle East,” said Bob Horner, Senior Vice President, Sales, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “The Challenger 850 jet has established a unique niche, offering unparalleled flexibility in customized configurations for operators worldwide. We are confident that this formidable aircraft will enjoy even more success in this region.”

GULFSTREAM G200 SETS TWO CITY-PAIR SPEED RECORDS

A Gulfstream G200 business jet recently set two city-pair speed records, connecting Savannah to Keflavik, Iceland, and Keflavik to Vnukovo, Russia.
The large-cabin, mid-range G200 took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport on Sept. 13 and flew 2,915 nautical miles northeast bound, with 32-knot tailwinds, at an average speed of Mach 0.75. It landed 6 hours and 28 minutes later at Keflavik International Airport.
Piloting the G200 were international demonstration captains Erik Kauber and Nicholas Rose. On board the aircraft were flight attendant Jeanette Brewer and four passengers.
The same day, the same flight crew and passengers boarded the G200 for a flight of 1,827 nautical miles from Keflavik to Vnukovo, near Moscow. The aircraft left Iceland traveling eastbound at Mach 0.80, arriving 4 hours, 16 minutes later in Vnukovo.
The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) confirmed the flights as U.S. records and forwarded the figures to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) in Switzerland for approval as world records.
The G200’s outstanding performance characteristics include excellent climbing, high-cruising altitude, high-speed, long-range and short-landing capabilities. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW 306A engines, the G200 can reach speeds up to Mach 0.85 at altitudes up to 45,000 feet. Even with this level of performance, the G200 boasts an hourly operating cost lower than other large-cabin, mid-range jets.
Since the delivery of the first G200 in January 2000, the aircraft has amassed 12 city-pair speed records.

Comlux Purchases Two Global 7000 Jets

Bombardier Aerospace today announced that Comlux The Aviation Group, through an affiliate, signed a firm order for two Global 7000 jets. The successful charter operator’s growing fleet of large cabin Bombardier business aircraft currently includes 12 Challenger and Global jets.
“Comlux has gained its reputation in the worldwide business aviation market, operating the widest range of wide-cabin and long-haul VIP aircraft,” said Richard Gaona, President, Comlux. “After seven years of successful VIP charter and aircraft management operations, we have a solid experience with the Global aircraft family. With its increased cabin space, the Global 7000 aircraft fills the gap between the ultra long-range jet segment and that of VIP airliners. It is exactly what Comlux needs to offer ‘The Complete Luxury Aviation Service’ to its customers.”
Comlux’s expanding fleet features Challenger 605, Challenger 850, Global 5000 and Global Express XRS jets. The Global 7000 aircraft complement its existing VIP widebody fleet and contribute to the company’s strategic development plan to become the leading wide-cabin and long-haul VIP charter and aircraft management provider in Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
Comlux The Aviation Group is one of the leaders in VIP charter services operating worldwide, with the highest standards of quality. Beyond charter operations, Comlux offers a comprehensive set of services to VIP customers, including aircraft management, sales and acquisitions, cabin design and completion, as well as maintenance and engineering services.
“We were honoured to have Comlux endorse the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft at the recent launch, and it is fitting that now, here at MEBA, they are ratifying their order for two Global 7000 jets,” said Bob Horner, Senior Vice President, Sales, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Comlux has always been a strong supporter of Bombardier, and the design of the new aircraft was inspired by feedback from customers such as Comlux. We implement this feedback in the spirit of exceeding their very high expectations.”

Dassault's Falcon 2000LX Receives Approval for London City Airport (LCY)

(December 6, 2010, Dubai, United Arab Emirates) – Dassault’s Falcon 2000LX has recently been granted approval for arrivals and departures at the challenging London City Airport (LCY) in England. With this approval, European registered Falcon 2000LXs can connect London City, located in the heart of the city of London, nonstop with all of Europe including Moscow. Dassault is currently developing a program to gain FAA steep approach certification which will also allow American registered aircraft to operate at LCY.

In order to use London City’s short runway (4,327 ft/1,319 m at landing and 3,934 ft/1,199 m at take off), an aircraft must demonstrate exacting performance. To help achieve this, Dassault developed a unique autobrake feature for the Falcon 2000EX and 2000LX that reduces landing distances by as much as 300 feet on steep approaches, which are required for London City. The steep approach procedures require a glide slope of 5.5 degrees as opposed to the standard 3.0 degrees.
"Flying into London City is not only a challenge for aircraft performance; aircraft are also required to be good neighbors and must abide by strict noise procedures,” said John Rosanvallon, President and CEO of Dassault Falcon. "Meeting these requirements is not an easy task but the convenience of flying into the heart of downtown London is highly valuable for business jet operators.” The Falcon 2000LX noise level was measured in the same category as smaller turboprop aircraft.

The Falcon 2000LX received EASA and FAA certification in April of 2009. The 4,000 nm range 2000LX offers the same spacious, quiet interior as the 2000EX EASy but also the capability to serve more extensive city pairs. It offers a 10 to 15% improvement in climb speed in comparison to the Falcon 2000EX, and allows the aircraft to reach 41,000 ft in just 18 minutes. The Falcon 2000LX comes standard with the award-winning EASy flight deck which has won high marks and praise for its integrated features and intuitive displays.
In 2009, the Falcon 7X was approved to operate at London City Airport for both EASA and FAA registered aircraft. The Falcon 7X offers the longest range of any business jet qualified for London City with nonstop capability to New York. Additionally, the Falcon 900DX/EX, Falcon 50 and Falcon 10 all have London City approval.

Airbus A318 Elite & ACJ to lead the field at MEBA

Two top-of-the-line Airbus corporate jets will be exhibited at the Middle East and Business Aviation (MEBA) show in Dubai in December, highlighting their success in the region.
They comprise an A318 Elite operated by Al Jaber Aviation (AJA) of Abu Dhabi and an Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) based in Bahrain and operated by Comlux. Both aircraft are available for VVIP charter.
AJA began offering its Airbus A318 Elite for VVIP charter flights earlier this year, and is the first Airbus customer from the region to offer this service. It is also the largest Airbus customer for charter aircraft in the Middle East, having ordered four A318 Elites and two Airbus ACJs.
Comlux is one of Airbus’ largest corporate jet customers, and currently has an A318 Elite and an Airbus ACJ based in Bahrain.
More than ten operators are now offering over 15 Airbus corporate jets for private charter.
Both aircraft are similar in size on the outside to traditional corporate jets, but are around twice as big inside, leading the field at MEBA as well as setting the new standard in space and comfort in top-of-the-line business aircraft – whether existing or planned.
“Airshows such as MEBA are a great way for us to showcase our wider, taller cabins and their unequalled freedom of movement, because they allow potential customers to see for themselves how we compare with traditional business jets,” remarks Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers John Leahy. “It can literally be a case of see, buy and fly in the Middle East market, which is the world’s most important for top-of-the-line and widebody corporate jets,” he adds.
Business jet customers can choose from a whole spectrum of aircraft, ranging from small one-pilot jets all the way up to widebodies that can fly large delegations nonstop to the world, but only Airbus offers a complete family of modern top-end products to suit every need.
Airbus has made a habit of bringing new and innovative technology to the airliner field, leading the way with fuel, weight and cost-saving initiatives, and these benefits –  together with the classy comfort and superb space that their corporate jet versions deliver – make them the natural choice for those that want the best in private transport.
Airbus has sold more than 170 corporate jets to date, comprising over 110 of its A318 Elite, Airbus ACJ and A320 Prestige family and over 60 VIP and government widebodies. Airbus corporate jets are the only ones flying on every continent, including Antarctica.

Rizon Jet to become new Airbus ACJ operator

Rizon Jet of Doha, Qatar, is to become a new operator of an Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), which it will manage on behalf of the new Gulf customer which ordered it earlier this year.
The latest order builds on the strong presence that Airbus corporate jets already have in the region, which is one of the world’s largest markets for business jets. As part of the management contract, Rizon Jet will offer its client consulting services in the design and completion process.
Delivery of the “green” Airbus ACJ is planned for next year, with the outfitted aircraft being handed over to the customer in 2012. The interior will reflect the latest standards of luxury in business aviation.
“Our customer wants a comfortable and spacious environment for his family and friends during his travels. The new Airbus ACJ ticks all the boxes for his requirements. Moving into the management and operation of an Airbus Corporate Jetliner was both a natural and desirable step for us,” says Rizon Jet CEO Patrick Enz.
“If you have the need to travel in an up-market business jet, you might as well get the best value for money by benefitting from the greater space and comfort that Airbus corporate jets have to offer, because otherwise you will settle for less,” reasons Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy. “We deliver like no one else can at the top end of the market, as more and more premium aircraft management companies such as Rizon Jet are discovering,” he adds.
In addition to greater comfort and space, Airbus Corporate Jet customers benefit from many advantages that flow from being part of the world’s most modern airliner family – such as better value-retention, the latest in satellite phone technology, modern navigation aids such as GPS, and worldwide support that includes features tailored to corporate-jets.
Only Airbus offers such a complete range of modern corporate jets with seating for 19 to over 90 passengers, only Airbus delivers so much freedom of enjoyment on board, and only Airbus packs so many innovations into every aircraft it delivers.
Airbus’ hallmark is bringing new and innovative technology to the airliner field, leading the way with fuel, weight and cost-saving initiatives, and these benefits – together with the classy comfort and superb space that its corporate jet versions deliver – make them the natural choice for those that want the best in private transport.
The Airbus advantage in corporate jets is highlighted by the more than 170 corporate jets sold to date, which  comprise over 110 A318 Elites, Airbus ACJs and A320 Prestiges, plus over 60 VIP and government widebodies. Airbus corporate jets are the only ones flying on every continent, including Antarctica.

Dassault Falcon Business Jet Sales Set to Grow in the Middle East

Demand for Private Aviation Resumes and the Regional Market Matures

(December 2, 2010, Saint-Cloud, France): The Middle East market for business jets is beginning to show signs of recovery as confidence starts to return. Dassault has a growing fleet of Falcon business jets in the region, which it plans to grow by 30 per cent over the next three years, thanks to a solid aircraft order book from regional buyers.
In addition to the rising demand for new aircraft, the level of private aviation activity is picking up as indicated by the increasing number of hours being flown by business jet operators in the region. With the private aviation client base now evolving beyond the traditional, small group of elite clients to include corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and other business users, supported by solid aviation infrastructure, Dassault now considers the regional market for private aviation as very ‘mature’.
Dassault Falcon sold 14 aircraft in the Middle East in the last two years and has a backlog of 15 additional aircraft to be delivered to regional buyers by 2013. Dassault’s current regional fleet size numbers about 60 business jets and this is expected to grow by one-third over the next three years. 40 per cent of the company’s new business jet sales are coming from the Falcon 7X and the company will deliver its tenth Falcon 7X to the Middle East before the end of 2010. Dassault has also expanded its presence and infrastructure with a new Regional Sales Office and recently appointed a new Regional Sales Director, in Dubai, as well as a second Authorized Service Center and a new Customer Service Manager, in Saudi Arabia.

"The Middle East business environment still remains challenging but confidence levels appear to be rising,” said John Rosanvallon, president and CEO of Dassault Falcon. "Dassault has seen much greater demand over the last two quarters of the current financial year, with larger cabin jet sales and prices holding up better than smaller jets. The indicators for recovery are starting to show but even if this is not a true rebound, business has certainly resumed. Western economies are still struggling to recover but other regions are active, including India, South America, Asia - and the Middle East, where we have an advantage because of our military heritage and established reputation, through the Dassault Mirage fighter jets that are operated in some GCC countries
